Christian values built civilisation
THE EDITOR, Sir:
The Church is being characterised as bigot for upholding the same values which built the civilisation we enjoy today. My question to those who promote and support homosexual activities is this: Is the practice of homosexual activity harmful to the individuals who engage in it and to society in general?
All the evidence that I am aware of says it is harmful, so if anyone has evidence to the contrary, he is free to present it. The only reason supporters give in support of their activity is that they should be able to do as they please.
Since their conduct is harmful, if one finds oneself so inclined, one should seek help to correct the disorder. There are numerous reports of people overcoming that inclination/temptation because they want to overcome it. If someone has a disease, he does not seek to spread it to others; he seeks help. The same principle should apply to so-called same-sex attraction. It is harmful; that is why our laws prohibit its practice in order to protect society from its harmful effects.
The Church is now being accused of bigotry by the beneficiaries of its labour, including some counterfeit pastors, for maintaining the same values that built the foundation of civilisation.
