No faith in Mt Salem, Freeport police

Published:Friday | June 24, 2016 | 6:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Yesterday morning was my first time attempting to get police help, and I'm sadly disappointed!

At 4 a.m., our neighbours downstairs, a man and two women, were involved in some type of domestic dispute. I called the Mt Salem and Freeport stations but got no answer. Repeated calls were made to 119, but still there was no response from the police. About 6 a.m., one woman set a bed on fire just below us, which another neighbour and I had to put it out.

Again, repeated calls to 119, and Mt Salem and Freeport received NO RESPONSE! Finally, at about 8:30 a.m., a call was placed to Commissioner of Police Carl Williams' office and officers responded about 30 minutes later. While thankfully no one was injured, the argument kept escalating. The one woman left before the police showed up.

I pay a lot of fri**ing GCT and other taxes. I don't expect this poor service in response to a public-safety matter.
