Thwaites an absolute riot
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Every week when I read The Sunday Gleaner, I am tempted to write to commend Daniel Thwaites on his brilliance, his witty mind, his pithy expressions.
Sunday's article ('Trust but verify', June 26, 2016) was a gem! Mr Thwaites certainly took on our friend, Trevor Munroe, and extended the concept of his former dalliance with socialism (it may have been more than that) to critique his present-day activities. I can't see a comeback from Thwaites' barbs, though I do wish Munroe would try to write something in his defence. I take that back!
Thwaites' comment about the road from Moscow to Washington, DC, as well as your reminder about Lenin's oxymoronic 'little saying' - which is good advice for all of us - had me in hysterics. I am sure Thwaites' readers got the point: Verify before you trust.
The rest of the article also hit the mark. Thwaites and Lloyd D'Aguilar of the same mind about something? Thwaites must be formidable in court!
I anxiously await his next piece. There's no other good reason to buy The Sunday Gleaner!
