Stop tearing down our men

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The cartoon in Wednesday's Gleaner was not funny!

Portraying girls as studious and ambitious and boys as wutless must stop! Why should our youth (or anyone for that matter) aspire to be a scammer?

For answers to solving crime, especially murders, we need to look at the root(s). What value and attitude system are we promoting and instilling in our citizens from the cradle to the grave? If we don't value life, we will commit murder or serious injury. If we don't respect people's rights and an orderly society, we will lie and steal and try to scam others.

I have five brothers, my husband has eight, and we have three grandsons. None of these males are wutless. Can we just stop bashing the males. It may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Then who will our daughters/young women marry?

Are our sensational headlines designed to embarrass, hurt and destroy?
