East Street land to be used as parking lot

Published:Thursday | July 14, 2016 | 12:00 AM

The Ministry of Justice writes in response to The Gleaner articles dated July 3 and 10, 2016 regarding an abandoned parcel of land on East Street.

The issues highlighted in these articles are of significant concern and the Ministry of Justice regrets any nuisance that may have been occasioned by the state of the said parcel of land.

As previously indicated, the ministry of Justice intends to utilise this parcel of land as parking facilities for persons attending the Corporate Area Civil Court (Sutton Street). The Ministry is making every effort to have this project expedited as soon as possible. In the interim, the procurement process is ongoing and we anticipate that this will be concluded in a matter of weeks.

The Ministry of Justice has assigned the appropriate resources to ensure that this matter is given immediate attention so that the issues can be addressed as quickly and effectively as possible.
