Executive Director, JCDC

With reference to letter from Garfield Goulbourne published in The Gleaner on Thursday, August 4, 2016, captioned 'Shame on JCDC!', the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) notes and wishes to express appreciation to Mr Goulbourne for his recommendation. We further express congratulations to him on his outstanding work and the awards he received in this year's Jamaica Creative Writing Competition.

We wish also to advise Mr Goulbourne that the media were invited and were present at the awards ceremony.

The Jamaica Creative Writing Competition is one of the core programmes of the JCDC that continues to provide a platform for amateur and professional writers to express themselves through poems, essays, short stories, novels and plays.

Again, we thank Mr Goulbourne for his recommendation and we look forward to his participation and the participation of all talented writers in the competition when entries are opened on September 1, 2016 for next year's competition. We invite all to visit our website at, our head office, or any JCDC parish office islandwide to access the entry form and competition details.

Thank you!
