Move to the longer distance, Bolt

Usain Bolt

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Usain Bolt gave the world what it was hoping to see. He has accomplished the almost impossible. Now, how about something extra? At 100 metres, Bolt does not reach top speed. At 200 metres, he is not even tired. From observation, after 200 metres, he still can go on at a winning speed.

So, how about the 400 metres?

The 400 metres is classified as a sprint. Bolt is the best sprinter in the world. So, he should show the world that he has left nothing out. We all agree that he is the greatest sprinter of all time. What would we say if he adds the 400 metres to his winning records? How about if he does the 400 below 43 seconds? Following Bolt over the years, I would say that he has the best chance of doing it.

At this point in his career, after the Olympics, I recommend that he drops the 100 and the 200 and go after the 400. Set a new 400 record and then call it a day. Well, that's what I would do if I were Usain Bolt, anyway.
