Give us back the old Holness
THE EDITOR, Sir:
It would seem we have a brand new Andrew Holness than the one prior to February 25, 2016. If this is the case, I am going to ask that we get back the Andrew Holness who was on the campaign trail decrying crime and offering solutions to violence in Jamaica.
Give us back the Andrew Holness who, when he was on every political platform campaigning for power, was very vocal about the killing of children and the vulnerable.
It is clear that the Andrew Holness we have now for prime minister is a brand new one that was popped out of a box and is not aware of the numerous killings. Just Wednesday night, there were six shootings in four days that include a two-year-old and the prime minister who use to be vocal has remained silent since he has won the election.
I am asking that we get back the Andrew Holness that made this remark on a political platform: "If you want to be safe in yuh yard, if you want to be able to fall asleep and leave your door open and wake up in the morning and still be alive, you cannot make the mistake of putting in the PNP."
This was an undertaking given to the people of this country by Mr Holness that he would ensure that if the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) was elected to power, you would be safe from thieves and murderers. Mr Holness assured this two-year-old that once the JLP is in power, he would still be alive.
We must ask, has Mr Holness failed this two-year-old? If Mr Holness has forfeited his commitment, he must retract his statement forthwith and apologise to the people of Jamaica.
