Problems on the horizon

Published:Wednesday | September 7, 2016 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The extension of the school year is going to create a space problem in many schools. Subsequently, a delay in the growth curve of many prospective students who are desirous of advancement will occur. Some schools are not going to catch on to the new development plan and the students are the ones who are going to be stifled in the process. In schools where infrastructure is not up to scratch, students are going to feel the 'development' in a most agonising way.

Seating capacity at many schools is already short of what is necessary. It is going to get much worse.

I am appealing to Minister of Education Ruel Reid to look into the matter and find ways of solving this problem urgently.

If we are not putting productive policies in place to replace the previous ones, I doubt that we are travelling down the right path.
