To those who crucify Al Miller
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I'm not a Christian, but I'd like to remind those so eager to see the downfall of the Reverend Al Miller in the wake of his recent conviction that Jesus, in his time, was convicted for actual or perceived insurrection against the Roman state. It was a heinous crime, for which he paid the ultimate price - crucifixion style.
But there was a small band of followers who clung tenaciously to their belief in the innocence of their leader and the righteousness of his cause who kept the movement and his memory alive.
Today, that convicted Jewish rebel from the backwaters of Galilee who started it all is not only the ultimate icon of the largest religious organisation in history, but also its god.
