Make Bob Marley a national hero

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Once again, National Heroes Day has come and gone, leaving many
people all over the world frustrated, disillusioned and angry. People are
disappointed that Jamaica's renowned entertainer and reggae icon, Bob Marley, has once again been overlooked and ignored as fully deserving the nation's highest honour - National Hero.

I wish someone would state publicly why Robert Nesta Marley should not be accorded such well-deserved respect.

This entertainer, unlike some others who have received such high honour,
was of the highest moral calibre. He was not a politician, never advocated
racism, and did not have a criminal record. Mr Marley was a
very spiritual man.
I plead with the powers that be to give the late Bob Marley his due.
Make him one of Jamaica's national heroes.
