Democratic socialism is communism in disguise
THE EDITOR, Sir:
The People's National Party (PNP) general secretary-designate Julian Robinson has got off on the 'wrong footing' by a re-introduction of apolitical dogma that served as the 'obstetrician' that presided over the economic and financial demise of the Jamaican in the 1970s.
'Democratic socialism' by any definition remains incompatible with the 'Free Market System'. The late, Mr. Morris Cargil, writer and journalist, once referred to 'Democratic Socialism, as a 'wolf in sheep clothing'. It's a 'political philosophy ordered by deception, covetousness, and increased state control and bureaucracy. The evidence is still lingering in increased taxation, and 'out-of-control government spending and 'bureaucratic bundling'.
It is a mechanism employed by politicians to redistribute the wealth earnedby the most successful and the 'prosperous' entrepreneurs of the nation.
Democratic socialism is a recipe for economic disaster and it should remain in the museum at the party's headquarters on Old Hope Road.
