A breath of fresh air
THE EDITOR, Sir:
So often (at home or abroad) I have declared my pride in being Jamaican, in spite of some of the negatives displayed by a few citizens.
On Wednesday, listening to Power 106, I was forcefully reminded of why I am so proud and still get chills listening to our national anthem. The discussion between the minister of education. Senator Ruel Reid, and the opposition spokesman for education. the Rev Ronald Thwaites, was so uplifting and it made my head swell with pride.
But then, I stopped to wonder why this very civilised interaction isn't evident otherwise across the political divide. Such a breath of fresh air. It would be good if this example could be emulated across this beautiful land of ours.
Can we dare to hope?
