Mosquito infestation in Portmore a real issue

THE EDITOR, Sir:

My son who was born in Portmore and has lived there his entire life and will be 40 years old next month. In all this time and before, the People's National Party (PNP) has held full sway in terms of political representation in the area.

I don't live there anymore, but on my last visit earlier this year, I was shocked to realise that mosquito infestation remains as large a problem as it was 40 years ago. This I believe is the essence of the point young Kenisha Allen sought to make in her mosquito reference during last Wednesday's television debate. Such a pity public commentators seem so fixated on the humour of her style that they have allowed the substance to be completely lost upon them.

If the now municipality of Portmore under 40 years of PNP leadership has not been able to come to grips with a major element of its public health and sanitation responsibility, isn't it high time to try find someone else who can?
