Montego Bay

This is an open letter to Police Commissioner Carl Williams.

I write as a returning resident from the United Kingdom currently residing in the Bogue Heights residential area, close to Reading in Montego Bay.

As has been previously reported on many occasions, there exist numerous alleged scammers residing above our Bogue Heights neighbourhood in the community of New Ramble Hill, where, earlier this year, three alleged scammers were murdered and others injured in a gun shoot-out.

Quite regularly, I hear gunshots being fired in and around our community that requires your attention. Over a two-month period, two Bogue Heights residents, who I personally know, have been robbed close to the Bogue main road and numerous suspicious motor vehicles are seen lurking below the Bogue Heights community in the early morning and evening hours seeking to rob us residents.

One of these suspicious vehicles approached me while I was waiting on the Bogue main road by the bus stop just below Bogue Heights Boulevard and sought to harass me with the intention of getting me close to the vehicle, possibly to rob and kidnap me.

In recent months, there have been numerous persons driving motorcycles throughout the Bogue Heights area at all hours of the night and stopping at some of our gates, particularly between the hours of 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. We residents are very scared.

I am appealing to you as police commissioner to kindly and immediately take the necessary measures and decisions to ensure that our Bogue Heights neighbourhood is regularly patrolled by the Montego Bay police. We also request that an immediate investigation be conducted into these suspicious parked cars and bikes in our community.
