Schoolboy recruitment has benefits
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I thank Orville Higgins for his column 'Give up anti-recruitment zealotry' which was an effective public response to Lascelve Graham's earlier piece, 'Forbes, JC and the power of predators' (December 4, 2016). I endorse Higgins' opinion on this topic.
I am a product of this policy, and I am better off today than if I had not been recruited, as this opened doors of opportunity for me in life, both academically and athletically.
That being said, the opportunities made available to me ultimately prepared me to design the blueprint for the schoolboy football Super Cup. You can decide its authenticity by reading here: http://jamschoolfootball.blogspot.com/
My experience in high school, which came about as a result of recruitment to play in the daCosta Cup for four wonderful years, was an inspiration in designing the blueprint to provide opportunities for those left behind. It also gave me the opportunity to develop academically at a top university to be able to reason and represent scholastically.
I am most gracious for being recruited by those who had the vision and saw my potential, and, for this, I hereby thank my coach, Oliver Clue.
Thank you for your time.
