Make 2017 a year of giving thanks

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Drawing close to the end of 2016, I began thinking in a different way, thanks to a friend of mine who cemented my exact thoughts. We, as humans, tend to do a lot of asking. We always need or want something and so we never stop asking for them. Unavoidable, yes, but what if we were to take a different approach where God is concerned? Some of us pray to Him daily with at least one request. What if we took a different approach this year and just gave thanks? What if we helped shorten His request list and just talked to Him about what He has done? I'm not talking about what we do daily by giving thanks before we eat, etc. I mean giving thanks ONLY for every single thing we can think of for at least one week straight; maybe even a month. Is it possible? We should try it. It would not only make us happier, it would allow us to realise that we are all blessed in one way or another. Let us make 2017 a year of taking a different approach and a different perspective in everything.
