THE EDITOR, Sir:
It is high time for well-thinking Jamaicans to call for the resignation of Minister of National Security Robert Montague. Serious consideration ought to be given to asking Andrew Holness to remove himself as prime minister of Jamaica as well.
Mr Holness claimed that he had a plan that would ensure the safety of all Jamaicans. To date, that plan has yet to show itself.
Mr Holness also placed as head of national security someone who did not want the job and who clearly does not know how to handle it.
It has been 11 months since Mr Holness has been in office, and he is yet to offer a strategic plan that would give Jamaicans the assurance that he has their interest at heart.
Over the weekend, four more Jamaicans were brutally murdered. Up to the time of writing, neither the prime minister nor his minister of national security had seen it fit to address the nation.
There can be no prosperity when our fellow Jamaicans are being murdered daily by men with guns who have no fear of the police.
It is also high time for Mr Holness to get up and be bold enough to ask for help, call in the army, do something.
