Identify customers hunting down persons
The Gleaner, on Friday, January 20, 2017, Page B3, carried two display ads posting the photographs of one Shekira Jackson and Karla Johnson.
There were also display ads on Page A9 for Anthony Fagan, Aldonus Rhoomes and Clinton Haughton with the same phone numbers.
These ads have the heading in bold: REWARD BEING OFFERED NOTICE.
Phone numbers to call are 551-6471, 974-4420 and 618-0610.
No mention was made of the identity of the Gleaner-paying customer who is responsible for the ads. How can The Gleaner allow anyone get away with this kind of recklessness?
The Wild West days are over. There is a dignified universally accepted way to do these things. If I knew who the Gleaner customer was and what these five persons were wanted for, I would be able to advise the Gleaner customer.
Now, if I know the whereabouts of these persons, why would I call a phone number and not know who I am calling? I may be exposing these people to big risks, and I would not be prepared to be so irresponsible.
I would strongly recommend that The Gleaner Company insist that the advertisers publish their (advertisers) names and mention the reason for the information being sought.
