THE EDITOR, Sir:
There have been reports of security issues being faced by students at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Recently, a student reported an encounter she had on campus. A man she didn't know went behind her, pressed up on her, hugged her, put his face on her neck and requested that she speak with him. She reported the encounter to campus police. According to her, the police weren't professional in their response. The student said the cops had her give them her address and telephone number in the presence of the assaulter. Now the student is disgruntled and confused.
This is a matter that the director of campus security should urgently address.
