Alan Magnus : the end of an era
THE EDITOR, Sir:
It is indeed a fact that good things always come to an end. I have been listening to RJR since I was a little boy. And RJR has always been my favourite radio station.
But, we deeply regret the fact that the great Alan 'Teddy" Magnus will be leaving RJR at the end of this month. His friend and colleague, the very relaxed and easy-going Henry 'Butcher' Stennett, tendered his resignation some years ago, and we did miss him.
And now, after decades of service, Alan, so full of humour very dedicated and committed to his work highly respected and loved by many people, has decided to take leave for good. What a sad day that is going to be.
For many ladies, Alan sometimes created sunshine on a cloudy day for them, with his cracking jokes and humour.
There is something special that I like about Alan: he is not a proud person, he is just natural and down to earth and is very unselfish. Everybody likes Magnus. He is also talented in singing. He is a great singer, mi like him songs dem.
How many national awards has he received over the years?
It's a pity he couldn't hold on until the end of this year. He will be greatly missed.
So, we sadly say to him: "Well done, Alan. Thank you very much and all the best to you. May God bless you and your family abundantly.
