Delroy Gordon stood out from the crowd
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Delroy Gordon, late executive director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), was not a man of many words, but when he spoke, it was the very embodiment of thoughts, cultured and urbane.
He was not a man given to ebullience but was animated when the drama unfolded in cultural expressions. He was not a man who clamoured for centre stage but he always, it seemed, had a vantage point in the wings where he discerned more than the mind's eye can.
But more impressive was his innate sense of balance and fairness, which he never vaunted, but which was naturally felt and appreciated by many.
He was a patriarch of our culture, a gentleman of the soil, gone but not forgotten.
