Fairness finally for KC

Published:Tuesday | March 21, 2017 | 3:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I read with great interest your editorial 'Let Rodgers run', published in The Gleaner on Monday, March 20, 2017

I wish to congratulate you on a balanced and well-written piece with respect to Kingston College in a long time.

Your opinion of the "squabble led by Calabar High School over the eligibility of Aryamanya Rodgers for this year's Boys and Girls' Athletics Championship" is soundly reasoned.

There has been this long-standing perception that your newspaper does not treat Kingston College fairly and with respect when it comes to your reportage.

I must say that your paper has freed itself of blame in this instance, and members of the Fortis fraternity - the principal included - have expressed great pleasure.

Without going into the many perceived indiscretions of the past, I personally have noticed that whenever certain schools are successful in the Championship, they are more often than not featured on the front page of The Sunday Gleaner and on the Sports page.

I am confident that you will continue this practice this year when KC is declared the victor of Champs 2017.

Like you, Mr Editor, I am hoping that these unfortunate disagreements involving Calabar, its principal, and ISSA's executive, along with the noise, do not distract young Rodgers from his usual stellar performance.
