Good idea to merge HEART, NYS, JFLL
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Allow me space to comment on Prime Minister Holness' contribution to the 2017-2018 Budget presentation in the House of Representatives on March 22, 2017. I watched his presentation with zest and optimism. His presentation gave an indication as to the type of leader he is as well as the legacy he wishes to leave. His masterful rhetoric was astoundingly impeccable.
I am particularly buoyant about the Government's intent to merge HEART, National Youth Service (NYS), Jamaican Foundation for Lifelong Learning (JFLL) and the apprenticeship board into a single entity.
It will be targeted at unattached youth who are susceptible to violent activities. This policy has the potential to have an impact on crime and violence in Jamaica.
I laud this new policy and hope to see the impact of the amalgamation on our nation's human capital and social development.
