Thanking JMMB for saving our money
VERONICA BLAKE CARNEGIE
The five of us, retired professionals, found ourselves talking for weeks, about the loss of our 'rainy-day' money. Our ancestors taught us to put away money for the rainy day to ensure security if there were setbacks in life and for old age. We did.
But some banks found ways to declare our savings, and those of many of our colleagues, dormant. We, and our adult children, some of whom support us, really thought that the banks would be the safest place to keep our emergency money and protect us from thieves, but they, instead, declared our savings dormant.
We wept and mourned because our rainy-day money was gone.
At the last meeting, a number of hands went up for those who, some time ago, left as little as $2,000 in their savings accounts at Jamaica Money Market Brokers. The money has increased and all of us who left the small amounts in JMMB show growth, not dormancy.
Thank you, JMMB!
