Woman's right to choose
As a rule, I tend to agree with Peter Espeut's views as set out in his columns. In the Friday, May 5, 2017 edition, however, I have to part company with him regarding at least part of his column, 'Today's big lies'.
As I understand it, women's claims regarding their bodies are not so much that they have right to choose what to do with their own bodies, as much as they should not be forced to tolerate anything that affects their bodies in a harmful or otherwise negative way.
Pregnancy is a matter that many women will rejoice over, but this is not always so. They go through monumental pain.
I would reject any law or attempt at moral suasion that requires a woman to go through that experience and not take steps to do away with that experience. You may as well ask that woman to accept cancer or other horrific experience and not take steps to do away with that experience, through medical treatment.
