Don't play murder music
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I was listening to FAME FM on Monday, May 8, when I heard the DJ air the song Formula by Alkaline.
These were the offensive lyrics that he recklessly allowed to reach my ears: "Anybody diss, a inna grung (ground) wi a send dem ... ."
It was heard twice during the song at 7:33 p.m. and at 7:35 p.m.
Clearly, these lyrics speak to the glorification of violence, which continues to be promoted on the public airways by some DJs.
The librarian should ensure that the version of the songs that is taken from the library is appropriate for airplay. He obviously failed in this regard.
Why did this DJ find it prudent to air this content with the specified lyrics, which is obviously not suitable for radio, and certainly not welcome in our society, in light of the madness taking place with rampant criminality (murders)?
