Where's the renewal, Dr Phillips?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
It really amazes me when I heard Peter Phillips, the 'official leader' of the People's National Party (PNP), call himself 'Team Renewal'.
Since assuming that post, he has said or done nothing to substantiate his claim of renewal. It is the same old (no pun intended) Peter Phillips who was unable to convince the PNP delegates to vote for him, not only once, but twice.
Peter Phillips has failed to address any issues involving the PNP. He has not addressed the missing US$20-million campaign funds. He has not addressed the failings of the administrations of which he was a part. He has not come clean and addressed the things he was alleged to have said about Portia Simpson Miller in a WikiLeaks document.
The online dictionary gives the meaning of renewal as 'replacing and repair of something that is worn out, run-down, or broken'. Is he saying that this is the condition of the PNP? I am baffled to think that Peter believes that we, the Jamaican people, will trust him more than the delegates who refused him?
No longer will slogans such as 'Better Mus' Come', 'Black Man Time' and 'Renewal' influence the psyche of the people. We have become a sophisticated electorate who will not be conned (again) by the PNP.
So, Peter Phillips, changing one's clothes does not make a changed man.
