Extortionist to collect market fees, really!

Published:Thursday | June 8, 2017 | 6:00 AM

THEE EDITOR, SIR:

The JLP councillor in the municipality who suggested the use of extortionists to collect market fees on behalf of the municipality is a clear example of the bankrupt, corrupt, lazy, degraded thinking processes of those supposedly leading in the political realm. Does Councillor Myers not recognise that one of his colleagues was just shot by criminals and a female political figure killed? And at this juncture in the history of Jamaica's unsolvable crime problem, you suggest that the municipality engage criminals to terrorise market vendors?

These extortionists, mostly lazy, able-bodied young men often protected by politicians, are envious, sickening, little parasites and worms who think nothing of extorting 65-year-old female vendors, who have traded all their lives, toiled for a living. These cruel, brawny, young, male cretins who terrorise these poor females into paying them for the privilege of carrying on their trade are now being considered for "outsourcing" because of the municipality's failure to collect market fees? Are we living in the twilight zone when this kind of nonsense passes as a 'good idea'?,

Please think before you speak politicians.
