Letter of the Day | Why was 11-y-o on street at 10:30 in the night?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
As Jamaica reels from the onslaught of marauding psychopaths snuffing out lives with reckless abandon, the people of our once paradisical island have been reduced to shadows of their former selves.
These ice-cold killers, without a second thought, murder young, old, men, women and babies.
While the loss of any human life at the hands of these dog-hearted executioners is to be deplored, we cannot give even a slight opportunity to these killers to carry out their acts.
It is against this background that I wish to comment on the death of young Taysha Hughes. While this precious child had every right to life, the following question has been gnawing at me: What was an 11-year-old girl doing on the street at 10:30 on a school night?
Indeed, nowhere in Jamaica should an 11-year-old child be on the street unsupervised at that time of night - even more so the area in which she lived.
There are questions to be answered here.
