Stop blaming INDECOM

Published:Wednesday | July 5, 2017 | 12:07 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Whenever I ask policemen what is preventing them from carrying out their duties, their answer is the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

Untrue! I believe what is preventing the police from doing their job is of their own doing, with help from uncooperative citizens.

The police force needs witnesses to clinch cases. Without that, they will resort to excessive and unlawful force. That notwithstanding, witnesses have to trust the police, which is a major deficit. Therefore, stop blaming INDECOM.The commission is the best ever agency established. The Jamaica Constabulary Force needs to do some serious introspection.
