Dangerous bridge at Baxters Mountain
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am a very concerned citizen of the Baxters Mountain community in South East St Mary.
There is a bridge that takes us into the community. This bridge has been in a deplorable conditions for quite some time now. The late Dr Winston Green had made numerous requests for this bridge to be renovated, but to date, there has been no response from the Government or the relevant authorities.
Last Monday, September 18, a truck was going across the bridge and when it got stuck between some iron, some boards that were rotted gave away. This bridge is hindering the free flow of traffic in and out of the community. Taxi men have to, on a daily basis, drive with boards in their cars to place on the bridge to drive across. Some parents are now planning to stop their children from attending the schools that this bridge is affecting; they are fearful for the safety of their children.
I wish that the Government would come forward and do something about this bridge before someone loses his life.
