Lisa vs fashion dinosaurs
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Carolyn Cooper's column 'Up in arms over Lisa Hanna's dress' (Sunday Gleaner, December 3, 2017) was on the mark: "We must emancipate ourselves from sartorial slavery."
These fashion dinosaurs who hold on to antiquated dress code rules remind me of Jesus's rebuke to certain religious leaders in His time.
He told them: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence." (Matt 23:25)
So applying his statement to today's fashion purists and fashion police reads: "Never mind, sleeveless dress. Rather, address the problem of your lustful eyes and get on with the nation's business of curbing crime, violence, and corruption."
