Unified effort leads to achieved goals
THE EDITOR, Sir:
To those in wage talks, there are two roads ahead both under the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) guided targets. The first means lower wages for everyone. It may be a bit of bitter medicine for public sector workers, but the government would be able to save on their wage bill, and coupled with other public sector efficiency initiatives, they would be able to meet their targets for the IMF as it relates to wages.
The second appears more fruitful in our pockets. Higher wage increases. This will most definitely result in job cuts. Not only will it affect morale of workers but will plunge our economy into disarray.
Let us not forget that we all have to "band our bellies" until we get ourselves out of the economic rut. To get Jamaica ahead, we need to start working as a team: Together Everyone Achieves More
