Comprehensive human development plan needed

Ever wondered why the continent of Africa, with more natural resources than all others, is the poorest continent on the planet? The answer is to be found in the underdevelopment of its people.

I'd like to see Jamaica's overall national plan for education, learning, and development, and to locate the activities that are currently in train to accomplish the objectives.

We need to structure a system that is equipped to deliver quality education that from the get-go, at the early childhood development stage, lays the foundations for critical thinking, innovation and problem solving. Mouthing platitudes and throwing in some random training here and there in restricted skills with time-bound viability in later life cannot be the answer to a sustainable human development approach.

I heard on a radio programme just recently where the principal of a high school in the Corporate Area had to send home over 200 second-form students for bad behavior and poor academic performance. Something is radically wrong, and it needs urgent fixing!
