Hire outsiders to curb crime
THE EDITOR, Sir:
As an outsider who vacations on your island, I have to wonder, how much better off are the Jamaican people since Independence? In my opinion, you would have been better off staying put.
The island is riddled with crime and corruption, and the hard-line action needed to beat back this plague is not being applied.
Your police force seems to be inept. How many murder cases have been resolved this year, let alone last year? If your police force cannot do the job, you need to hire outside experts.
Bring back capital punishment for murder, and people convicted of heavy criminal drug trafficking should be slapped with life sentences with no parole.
Justice should fit the crime and be swift.
