Deeply offended by Bunting's remarks
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am offended by Peter Bunting's statement about Nigel Clarke, as reported by The Gleaner. I am deeply offended by it. I bet you if Nigel Clarke looked brown or white, those sentiments would not have come from the mouth of Peter Bunting.
I was once poor and I got educated and moved up the ladder, and I have more moves to make. I have big dreams. What is Bunting trying to say? What message is he sending?
What is Bunting telling me by likening Dr Clarke's aspirations as "black royalty"?
Nothing is wrong with one being black and poor, gaining education, and now seeking office. Absolutely nothing! It's an inspiration to young people to become educated and successful.
My message to those persons who might have read what Bunting said is this: Don't let him stop you from aspiring to greatness. Don't let him talk you out of being 'black royalty'. Continue to fight and make something of yourself.
