Put mission before money, teachers
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Teaching is the most noble of professions. I was home-schooled by my late mother in my early years. However, not all of us had that opportunity.
Today, I read with disappointment the headlines of industrial action by teachers disrupting schools When I think back to my childhood, our teachers never abandoned us.
What role models are you, teachers? Your economic fortunes far outstrip those of the educators of yesteryear.
I am quite disappointed. Please, teachers, consider the students and take the high ground. Thousands are on the cusp of sitting the Grade Six Achievement Test and others are preparing for higher examinations.
Redeem yourselves. Jamaica first!
