State of emergency boosts safety perception

For the first in a very long time, I feel a sense of optimism about Jamaica's crime debacle.

It was quite encouraging and refreshing to see members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and Jamaica Defence Force on the roads in Spanish Town on Sunday as the state of public emergency took effect. The presence of the security forces has fostered an air of increased safety.

Permit me to make one suggestion to Major General Antony Anderson. Deploy search dogs with special detection ability to assist in their spot checks and patrols during the state of public emergency. This should aid in the seizure of marijuana and cocaine.
