Pensioners suffering

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I read with interest the comment by the letter writer bearing the pseudonym Dare To Hope, in your publication of 22nd instant, calling for a hike in pension payments to alleviate the plight of 'forgotten' retired workers.

The minister of labour and social security has unwittingly yielded responsibility to the minister of local government, who now must budget for increased paupers positioning for state-funded interment.

Meanwhile, pensioners 'dare to hope' that something be done one way or other, rather speedily, as having a single meal per fortnight is a diet for rapid demise.
