Letter of the Day | Salute to Samitarian Constable Rhoden
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Please permit me to recognise a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) who I saw rendering assistance to a coconut vendor.
On Saturday, May 26, I was going along West Queen Street in downtown Kingston and saw a crowd gathering. As a curious Jamaican, I stopped to enquire about the reason for the crowd.
To my surprise, and in contrast to what I have become used to, I saw a man lying on the ground and a policeman in blue suit kneeling over the man fanning him with a piece of cardboard.
The man on the ground was a coconut vendor who had an epileptic seizure and the officer who was on foot stopped to assist. The policeman called for assistance on his radio and in short order, a police van came. The vendor was lifted and placed in the van and taken away.
The Samaritan officer's badge number is 18457 and his name is Constable Rhoden who works at the Kingston Central Police Station. With all the negatives that has been levelled at the force, Constable Rhoden stayed true to his motto: To Serve Protect and Reassure. Salute to Constable Rhoden. Keep shining for the JCF.
