Boot McNeill as tourism spokesman
THE EDITOR, Sir:
This is an open letter to the president of the People's National Party, Dr Peter Phillips.
You, sir, need to take a look at refreshing your shadow Cabinet. I say this because Dr Wykeham McNeill has not being doing his job as spokesperson on tourism well. For him, as a former minister of tourism, to sit and watch all this time as Minister Bartlett and Delano Seiveright wipe out the entire executive management of the portfolio, including loyal and qualified PNP supporters, shows that he has fallen asleep!
Then to see him blaming the permanent secretary for allowing everything to be run "differently" is probably because he needs to make himself look good for the PNP vice-presidential elections in September.
Fair is fair. Bartlett and his team have been doing a good job with tourism, but they did not have to remove so many people.
Dr Phillips, we need a spokesperson who we can ask what has happened to the former director of tourism, Paul Pennicook. And is it true that the deputies and other heads in the Jamaica Tourist Board have been tossed out?
And who is this new director of tourism, Donovan White, and what, if any, are his connections to the JLP? And the revelation that Dr Lloyd Waller is collecting two full-time government salaries, from the University of the West Indies and the tourism ministry, just shows how lazy McNeill, in Opposition, has been.
Dr Phillips, your spokesman has let you down. Stop letting Andrew Holness run circles roun' you.
