Letter of the Day | Build roads with asphalt mixed with rubber
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Roads made with asphalt mixed with rubber, which can be had here in Jamaica from the recycling of used tyres, are better than those made from pure asphalt.
Think of the benefits here, the first being the lessening of fires caused by burning tyres at dumps. Road maintenance would cost less. Using the same concept, the savings would have a knock-on effect in the rural areas, as good roads would spur an economic boom for farmers, who would be able to get their produce into towns and cities at lower costs. It is now time to consider such an option.
