Chaos, disorder under commissioner's nose
THE EDITOR, Sir:
This is an open letter to the commissioner of police and the members of the newly constituted PSTE Branch.
Commissioner, I am asking that on any given day, you and the officers just stand outside the gate at 103 Old Hope Road, and for those on those neon green/yellow bikes, ride up and down Hope Road and Old Hope Road and experience the havoc that has been allowed to literally become the new road code, as created by the licensed and 'robot' taxis.
The males behind the wheels of these vehicles literally bruk every rule weh inna di original Road Code book for Jamaica. When one believes that they have broken all the rules, trust me, they invent new ways to break rules.
Please note that this includes making an illegal bus stop at the entrance to the commissioner of police's compound.
I propose that a hotline number/email address be given, where we may send pictures or send licence plate numbers as we may not be able to get pics regarding the atrocities that take place by the second on the roads of Kingston and St Andrew.
While this is being done, can we start by ridding the roads of the informal bus stops that have been created by both commuters and the robots: Mother's, Liguanea; the RUBiS gas station just below the US Embassy; and by the corner of Karachi Avenue and Mona Road, to name some.
