Sagicor hasn't taken away benefits

Published:Wednesday | September 26, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited wishes to clarify a recent matter that was published in a letter to the editor under the title 'Sagicor slashes insurance benefits' on September 19, 2018.

The company has not removed any health insurance benefits under our Government Employees' Administrative Services Only (GEASO) Health Scheme, which is the health insurance coverage provided by the Government of Jamaica, and administered by Sagicor, for employees within the government service.

However, as an added benefit to employees covered under the existing GEASO Health Scheme, Sagicor currently offers an optional/voluntary upgrade to those employees, which would provide them with additional health benefits not currently included in their health plan. The cost of optional/voluntary upgrade is paid by the employees.

Employees covered under the GEASO Health Scheme are encouraged to speak with their human resources administrator/ principal/bursar, respective association representative/ delegate or a Sagicor representative if they require any information on their health insurance coverage and the options available to them.
