Impressed with Kingston mayor
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I had reasons to reflect on Heritage Week and unsung heroes and a number of persons came to mind.
However, for the purpose of this letter, the focus is on the mayor of Kingston, Senator Delroy Williams.
Let's first acknowledge that there are myriad eyesores in our capital city. But in recent times, slowly but surely there have been changes taking place.
After years of lip service by others, under his stewardship, Mayor Williams has effected a multimillion-dollar restoration of one of our true treasures, Ward Theatre.
In his quiet way, the mayor has gone diligently about his work restoring the Ward to its glory days when it was the pearl of the English-speaking Caribbean. The work done at St William Grant Park is also notable.
Mayor Williams seems undaunted and steadfastly goes about his job. His concept of a Flag Square is a bold and innovative idea.
True there is more to be done, but as the adage goes, Rome was not built in a day.
