Portmore in dire need of a hospital

Published:Thursday | January 24, 2019 | 12:11 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I heard the minister of justice, Delroy Chuck, recently express the need for a court in Portmore as Spanish Town and Old Harbour can’t take the caseload.

I won’t say nay, but Portmore is in dire need of a good hospital, and has been for years!

Portmore is the largest urban area in Jamaica, with the exception of Kingston and St Andrew. It is larger than Kingston by itself in area and population, and yet it doesn’t have a hospital. This is a crying shame in 2019. Spanish Town, Linstead, May Pen, Lionel Town, Spaldings, Mandeville, Black River, Savanna-la-Mar, Lucea, Montego Bay, Falmouth, St Ann’s Bay, Annotto Bay, Port Antonio, Morant Bay – all towns with lower populations – have hospitals.

When will Portmore get its own?
