We need an islandwide state of emergency
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I have heard some voices calling in the wilderness for an islandwide state of emergency. Are you in favour of an islandwide state of emergency to be imposed in a Jamaica that is burning hot with crime and violence?
Are the churches in favour? Are all the people of Jamaica, including all our politicians, in favour of this calling? And would it be a good move?
With Jamaica standing so very high in everything – high in gun crime, machete killing, stabbing death, bad-man attitude, fear and intimidation, aggression and hostility, threats and extortion, criminal gangs, foul play and corruption (and the list goes on), we should double up ourselves and bring it on.
Let us put our best foot forward and impose an islandwide state of public emergency in a shattered and dying Jamaica, which is our highest form of security administration.
