JAAA, Blake under fire for Williams snub

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Does it sound like Dr Warren Blake and the executive of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) have any sense? First thing: How can Williams be disqualified from a final that was abandoned?

Second, under what circumstances would he object to Jamaica having four, instead of three, athletes in the 100m hurdles at the World Championships? And why come out and make that statement now?

This sounds very vindictive, petty, and personal.

If I were her, I would immediately seek another small country or maybe one of those rich Arab countries to represent.

Let’s say she was not selected in the top three for the event because of ‘disciplinary reasons’. But it is going way overboard to say that she may still not be in the team even if she wins the Diamond League. That’s personal!
