Carbohydrates are killing us

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am concerned about the health of Jamaicans, especially our young.

Our society is being broken because many of the young people are being fooled that it’s fine to eat pizza and pasta daily. But that lifestyle has severe consequences, increasing the risk of overweight, diabetes, hypertension, dialysis, amputation, and cardiac diseases.

I used to eat dumplings (basically the same as pasta) day in and day out. We used to have some other complex carbohydrates, for example, yam, banana, sweet potato, etc. We used to have sugar and water with lime juice. (lime juice helps to clean the gut). Speaking of cleaning the gut, we used to get regular ‘washouts’, too. These habits help to keep the body in check.

Many of you have access to the Internet. Go ahead! Google, it and you will be surprised about what you read concerning the food you guys are feasting on.

You are slowly poisoning your body.
